Dawson Cheese Factory

Early day Dawson Cheese factory, was later converted to the home of Ernie and Beth Riese, located at N3503 Prairie Road, in the Town of Decatur near Brodhead, Wisconsin. Emil Hafen, Sr, cheesemaker, was a native of Switzerland. The late Charles Zuecher, Sr, was one of the first cheesmakers at Dawson. The early day factory was not only a place to deliver milk and make cheese, but also a place to congregate and visit; to learn the happenings of the day. The original photo belonged to Mrs. A.P. Riemer, mother of the late Beth Riese. The Riemers did deliver milk to the Dawson Factory.
