Brodhead Gospel Hall Church

Description

Brodhead Gospel Hall. purchased from The Bethlehem Lutheran Church in 1966. The building was built in 1872 by the Baptist assembly. The building can be found on the corner of Tenth Street and First Center Avenue. The Gospel Hall Assembly began in the fall of 1935 when an evangelist from Detroit, MI rented the Dawson Community Hall in Decatur Township for services. In November they rented the old Methodist Church building in Juda. A.A. Gillett, the owner of that property and a member passed away and willed the property to the assembly. The building was sold and the congregation rented an old church building on the corner of 12th Street and East Third Avenue for a short time. On December 6, 1937 the congregation purchased the Episcopal Church building at 706 First Center Avenue and meet there until moving to the present building in 1966.
