Description
The Dawson Cheese Factory. Local dairy farmers delivering milk. The cheesemaker, Emil Hafen, and his wife, Mary Hartwig Hafen are in the doorway. The building is now a home on the corner of County SS and Prairie Road in the town of Decatur. For many years it was the home of Erine and Beth Riese. Mr. Hafen was a native of Switzerland. Charles Zuercher Sr. was also one of the early cheesemakers here. Mr. and Mrs. Hafen were the parents of Frieda Olin.
